My Friend

 
I hope you know I love you... always will!
Your heart to me… like sunshine’s happy pill 
I know those words are often platitudes 
But we both know our hearts... they are attuned
Yes, we don't know what life will throw our way 
Sometimes dark nights... they will eclipse our days 
But you, my friend, can lean on and rely 
Your pain and hurt... to soothe, I’ll always try 
Oceans apart... but I’ll stand by your side 
I'll tend your wounds and listen whilst you cry 
For you to me… are dearer than the stars 
I'll keep you safe... embrace your every scar 
In me, you have a home... you do belong 
Our giggles, soul-deep bond... will keep from harm
