My Advice To The Younger Me

believe what they
tell you are... just be you
Precious and perfect as you are's true

Touch, taste
travel as far
as you are able to
Always try to experience
things new

be afraid to
speak your mind... tell the truth
Time should be prized, especially
your youth

will go and they
will come, but those that stay
are true; love them... not those who go

surrender more
than you are prepared to
give, loose... always leave something just
for you

your heart and mind;
simplicity is key
Treat others how you'd like yourself
...think... see!

Hiding under the duvet
Pillow absorbing her tears
Wondering how her once fairy-tale love
Has turned into paralysing fear

Wanting so much to please him
But never quite getting it right
Blaming herself for his actions
"I must be too uptight"

Becoming an expert in make up
Her eyes finding it hard to conceal
Taking daily abuse and repeated beatings
Waiting for the blood to congeal

Her mind and body battered... broken
Her will stripped of the energy to fight
She decides to remain in her bedroom
Safe... out of plain sight

Madeleine, suddenly a stranger
To both her family and friends
They didn't think to check in on her
Although they regretted this in the end

Madeleine was found beaten unconscious
Days after the attack had ensued
By the emergency gas inspector
Only found... as he had to intrude

She never recovered from that beating
Her family, devastated by their loss
Look for signs of abuse in a loved one to turn a blind eye, comes at too great a cost!

Let This Be Our Hour! (Mirrored Sestet)

Insane ideologies causing too many hearts to pump around pain

Pain felt both mentally and physically from the world gone insane

Hate ravishing whole countries; for many, early death will be their fate

Fate sealed by retribution, as grows the sickness... the contagious hate

Hour by hour, more are conscripted and enslaved by anger's potent power

Power enslaving the vulnerable, hope diminishing... humanity's darkest hour

Few are the protagonists, the dictators and yet to them we all bow and hew

Hew instead to pure peace from within... one who loves will never be too few

Blaze light... a beacon for all to see; be a torch of compassion out of hate's maze

Mazed be not, by fear and trepidation, let your convictions and truth ignite. Blaze!

Hour by hour let love conduit into hearts of the repressed, through empathic power

Power be to the people, free from war, oppression and hate... let this be humanity's finest hour!

What's Your Style?

Style is something which
cannot be bought, as it's not
only in your clothes,
worn... it's in your compassion
intentions, words, deeds and thoughts

So careful how you
accessorise what's truly
important! Follow
not the trend... as it's how you
live that matters, in the end!
