Sometimes you need to take the time to hear yourself, to know what's in your heart
A friend's pure gift is listening, there's no need for their wisdom to impart

Sometimes within the negatives, there are many positives to be found
All just a matter of perspectives, a smile merely an inverted frown

It's often easy to miss one's blessings, whilst striving always to have more
A simple act of kindness, a pleasure shared; it should never be a chore

Today, my eyes are reawakening to all the joy life has to give
I'm choosing to be happy, consciously for the time I have left to live

Now nature's aromas smell much sweeter and both food and life taste divine
I am realising that what I am searching for, I've had for some time

I feel so very thankful for all the love that, on me, has been bestowed
Ironically, truths lay within; simply waiting for me to decode

Now with new enlightenment, I take my first fearless steps upon the path
Intrinsically sure, even through adversity... I need't feel life's wrath

When will I have the courage...
to admit to thee
When will the words...
escape my lips you'll  finally see...
love's fireflies... dance... within me

You're a
wish come true, you're
the colour in my blue,
you're the love that grew, you're what pulls
me through

Take a ride with me
beneath clinquant stars above
Two stowaways on
ardour's night train; our yearned for
destination... timeless love

O'er peaks, through our vales
betwixt the breeze and moon's dance
Lost in reverie...
each other's awe and wonder
...let us begin our romance

Alluring stories of lore
all enchanting and old
Strange, devious kinships
brought to peace by the bold
Forbidden, unrequited lovers
wish for their souls to meet
Mythical maleficent beasts
raise the dead from their sleep
Inspiring tales of enlightenment
spur our inner lotus to unfurl
Through imagination's dreamscapes
we discover new worlds

The Ifs, Buts and Whys

Blurred lines dance between you and I
Sharp is your edge that makes me cry
Gone are the days of love-filled eyes
Painful truths... I flavour with lies

Where is the bond that was once strong?
The certainty that we belonged?
How did we get it so darn wrong?
My heart weeps... melancholy songs

I fear it's time for our goodbye
Although we blatantly deny
Our fairytale has gone awry
Together, lonesome... we do lie

For loves return, I do so long
Your sweet affection I do mourn
We've lost each other in life's throng
We've only made... the first furlong

Our masquerade is no disguise
Storm clouds visible in our skies
Our love free-falls to its demise
Questions haunt... the ifs, buts and whys

Slaughter Of The Innocents

Precious innocents; loved ones so brutally slain
Dreams, hopes and future aspirations... all in vain

Blood-saturated textbooks and personal belongings strewn
Abandoned backpacks; lone survivors in the aftermath... doom

Desks stand empty; reminders of those who once sat there
Families ripped apart; mothers bereft... does any one care?

Bullet-holed walls whistle horrors, too horrendous to speak
Doors were no protection, as violently murdered were the meek

Classrooms; now mortuaries, the silence filled with prayer
A country in shock; racked by sadness, anger, grief and despair

Education, punishable by death, was their sole victimless crime
Young lives extinguised futilely, in what should've been their prime

When will the bloodshed end; the world's children be left in peace?
Time for the gunfire to end; for the hatred and discrimination to cease

I revel...

I revel in words...
beauty... the wind's sweet caress
the sun's fierce kiss
the lucent liquid moonlight
...the tactility of love
