Enlightenment

Care not I for who is deemed either wrong or right
Therefore competion is at dire odds with me
Without bad versus good, would we ever need fight?
Surely without either, we would all be then free
Righteousness often labelled as what is pure light
Whilst darkness is attached to demonic prowess
Can either be without the other’s existence?
Is darkness, not light, in state of pure undress?
Aren’t they entwined, as in us; have coexistence?
Isn’t fighting our own darkness, the hardest test?
Does one quell the other; have total resistance?

No, of course not; from darkness to light we evolve
From what once was darkness, erupted the big bang
From dark earth to sunlight is a seedlings resolve
In Chinese philosophy they’ve the Yin and Yang
From within the womb, aren’t we all born into light?
Upon chess board, wouldn’t all the pawns be then the same?
Let’s then cleanse our perceptions and birth a new sight
Meet each other with empathy; replace the blame
Let’s concede that it is a spectrum made of slights
Let’s not condemn our sisters and brothers; then wrong
Acknowledge, in each other, both darkness and light
Born from one to the other; in enlightenment belong

So with blame removed; darkness and light accepted
Wouldn’t the human race then have love perfected?

When I Was Five.

When I was five I’d pretend to be
A salty pirate upon the sea
Using Mum’s food ladle for my hook
And on treasure hunts, I’d test my luck.

Our washing basket, a ship to me
When I was five I’d pretend to be
A mermaid with silk pillowcase tail
Vibrantly Ariel’s song I’d wail.

Sticky stars and glitter hearts on face
Custard pie tin bra... still love the taste
When I was five I’d pretend to be
An astronaut in strange galaxies.

Blast off to space in my cardboard box
Colander helmet completed look
In Dads giant space boots... I’d roam free
When I was five I’d pretend to be.

The Seasons Of Our Love

In the spring of our love, you carefully cocooned my lonesome-leaded heart
Kindly cascaded blossoms of beautiful balmed words, my mind so longed to hear
Your sweet, seductive warm winds lifted, gently, the corners of my paper-thin scored skin
Precious promises of twinned flames' eternal, all enveloping embrace, lingered lucently there
Soothing shared showers of adoring affection rejuvenated, tenderly, my ashen-saddened spirit
I felt, once again, alive in a delicious deluge of demonstrative desire
My tight brittle buds began to taste, blindfolded with trepidation, the tremulous trust of truth;
unfurling subconsciously within our ethereal essence of lucid liquid light... there our love it grew

In the summer of our love we basked blissfully in the heat, hedonistically, entwined in heavenly dreams
We ate, endlessly, Eve's fruit of Eden... heedlessly, without paying attention, to its punishable price
Swam nonchalantly naked in the full moon's reflection; silken-stars sequining, subtly, our sin
Meandered merrily through meadows of consciousness... barefoot, beguiled and free
Danced deliriously to the birds' dawn chorus before they spirited us swiftly to sleep
There in the bosom of benevolence, in the solace of soliloquy, my soul's serenade you did sing
Our love-smelted smouldering, betwixt and bonded, beneath the sun's fierce fire... forged were we
Needing naively, playing profusely in our diaphanous dalliance of a jewelled daydream

In the autumn of our love, hallowed hues deepened, mellowed, weakened in their primeval  prowess
Honey-tasting merry memories, so much sweeter as the days' bowing branches undressed
The listless leaves of lies littered the ground, weeping woefully underfoot... began to wilt
Their strong siblings twisted, triumphantly tilted, clinging chaotically to ideals which they faithfully held
Rare reluctant rays of sunshine, heralding halcyon days of frivolity, which we had not contemplated would end
Our embers of empathy still burned blatantly, in the tawny tones of Fall's painter's palette
So we huddled harder, voiced vivaciously love louder, refused to weakly wander... left no room for ruthless regret
Stoically, we stocked up love's larder, gave thanks to the Father and now, gratefully, with the twilight of our love... we are mercifully met.

In the winter of love, will we fear our fragility or be humbled with humility?
Will we cherish wisely or be anaesthetised by apathy, dancing soberly into death's darkling demise?
I hope we heed and hold on together tighter, become fearless fighters, defending our lifelong treasured love to the end
I pray we weather the storms gracefully, give of ourselves unconditionally... become the most sacred of infinite friends
My wish is that we transcend life's tragedies, explore all of her mysteries and rejoice in our lessons learned
That our love will flourish and will indeed nourish all the silent, secluded parts of our innermost souls
As with our roots firmly planted, we'll not be supplanted and we'll bloom once more, cometh a reincarnate new morn
So, although seasoned, we'll have jubilant reasons to be joyous as, on our love... life did not taketh its toll

Firework Flashbacks.

This time of year I so despise
It drains the colour from his eyes
A time which should be full of fun
He's tortured... by the sound of guns

He hits the deck he dislocates
Flashes back to a place of hate
Taking cover beneath a chair
World thrown into chaos... despair .

To him he's back in lands afar
With roadside bombs and burnt out cars
Strewn body parts... the stench of death
Rocks back and forth... struggles for breath.

His kids look on in horror... fear
It gets no easier with the years
Their hero dad reduced to this
To comfort him our only wish.

But we can't make it go away
For loud fireworks are here to stay
And they'll sound out to the New Year
With little thought for our... spent tears.

Poet Knight

Please chime for me, oh one of pale moon face
Afar but near, ‘neath same celestial sky
Please come for me, oh Poet Knight; make haste

Words chaste with love, pen... darling make me ache
In ink silk sheets, together let us lie
Please chime for me, oh one of pale moon face

Reach for me, with quilled moonbeams’ warm embrace
Light trails of love, your words doth to me fly
Please come for me, oh Poet Knight; make haste

Read to me, fore fair dawn doth show her face
Moist satin verse, from page your pen has dyed
Please chime for me, oh one of pale moon face

Bequeath mine eyes, a sparkle with your grace
My Polaris, purloin my heart... my sighs
Please come for me, oh Poet Knight; make haste

Let not, my love, our stellar love now waste
Without your love, I fear that I may die
Please chime for me, oh one of pale moon face
Please come for me, oh Poet Knight; make haste
